MeetingBell is a small desktop app with a small privacy footprint. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, what we don't, and why.
Short version: Your calendar data stays on your machine. We don't read your meetings. We don't track you. We keep your email and license key so you can reinstall the app โ that's it.
1. What we collect
We collect only what's needed to sell you a license and keep the app running.
- Email address โ used solely to deliver your license key and send critical updates about the app you bought.
- License key โ generated by our payment provider and tied to your email so you can reactivate MeetingBell if you reinstall Windows.
- App settings โ your chosen sound theme, alert timing, and notification theme. Stored locally on your machine; not sent to us.
- Calendar authentication tokens โ stored securely on your device so the app can read your calendar. We never see these tokens.
- Anonymous crash reports via Sentry โ if MeetingBell crashes, Sentry sends us the stack trace so we can fix the bug. These reports contain no calendar content and no personally identifying data.
2. What we do not collect
- The content, description, or body of your meetings.
- The names or emails of attendees.
- Keystrokes, screen captures, or anything you type.
- Browsing behavior, usage analytics, or session tracking.
- Location, IP-based profiling, or advertising identifiers.
3. Where your calendar data lives
MeetingBell reads only the start time and title of upcoming meetings. It does this directly on your device, using the official calendar APIs. This data is never transmitted to any MeetingBell server. There isn't one. The app is a local app โ it talks to your calendar, then to your speakers, and that's the full loop.
4. Third-party services
MeetingBell relies on a small number of third parties, each with a specific, limited role:
Google Calendar API
Used only if you connect a Google account. Read-only access to upcoming events. Governed by Google's standard OAuth consent screen.
Microsoft Graph API
Used only if you connect a Microsoft 365 or Outlook account. Read-only access to calendar events.
Lemon Squeezy
Processes payments and delivers license keys. They receive your email and payment information โ see their privacy policy.
Sentry
Collects anonymous crash reports. No calendar content is ever included in these reports.
5. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access โ request a copy of the data we hold about you (which is essentially your email and license key).
- Deletion โ request we erase your record from our license database.
- Correction โ update your email address if it changes.
- Portability โ request your data in a machine-readable format.
Email support@meetingbell.app and we'll respond within a few days.
6. Children
MeetingBell is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
7. Changes to this policy
If we materially change how we handle data, we'll update this page and notify license holders by email.
